The Visitor Experience in the Age of AI
Block I
In the opening section, we will delve into the topic of the visitor experience and its transformations in the digital age. How can artificial intelligence and other technologies contribute to making it meaningful, accessible, memorable, vibrant, and personal?
Together, we will look at museums and galleries through the eyes of visitors and explore the Visitor First approach, which transforms institutions from exhibition sites into providers of experiences and services. We will introduce the results of a visitor experience survey in Czech museums and galleries and demonstrate how these findings helped in the design of AI guides for exhibitions and displays.
Block II
In the second block, participants will walk through the exhibition in the roles of various visitor types, focusing on what is clear to them, what works, and where they encounter obstacles. Through this experience, they will try out what it is like to perceive an exhibition from different perspectives and needs. Using the “pains and gains” user experience design method, we will collectively identify key moments of the visit and its strengths and weaknesses.
After the break, we will expand this view with the perspective of artificial intelligence. We will demonstrate how AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini) can be used to simulate the visitor’s perspective and supplement feedback, and we will compare this with our own experience.
