Projects in the Woodshop and the Kitchen

Last Saturday, talents from the Hradec Králové Region faced a day that was not built on simulation or a model game. It was a real project in which everything was created for real – from the initial assignment through team cooperation to the final output and its presentation.

The goal was to show that a good result is not only born from an idea, but also from the ability to communicate, take over work in progress, follow up on others, stay on track, and not lose sight of the whole.

From Board Game Design to the Final Product

An original board game was created from scratch in the woodshop. The morning team designed it, prepared the concept, and started production. The afternoon group then took over the project, followed up on the work in progress, and brought the game to its final form.

This very process was one of the most powerful parts of the entire day. The talents experienced how important it is to hand over a project well, communicate clearly, understand the previous team’s intent, and simultaneously bring their own solutions. It was a great demonstration of how detailed work meets the overall view of the result in practice.

This is the path that moves not only the Academy participants forward, but all of us.

The Kitchen as a Space for Cooperation and a Zero-Waste Approach

An equally intensive program took place in the kitchen. Teams started from the very basics – grinding meat for Dutch schnitzels, preparing bone broth, or grilled vegetables as a vegetarian option.

The afternoon group then prepared a zero-waste buffet, in which the ingredients were used to their full potential. Homemade desserts, bread, spreads, and peel chips were created. The result showed that sustainability does not have to be just a theoretical topic, but can be a natural part of everyday practice – and, moreover, it can taste great.

Real Process, Real Output, Real Responsibility

Each team went through the entire process from the assignment to the final output. Participants tried not only the creation itself, but also the division of roles, decision-making under pressure, communication between groups, and responsibility for the collective result.

The end of the day was dedicated to presentations. The teams had to present and “sell” their board game much like they would in the real world. It was not just about making something, but also about being able to explain the value of the result, engage the audience, and defend their own idea.

Huge recognition goes to all the talents for their commitment, energy, and desire to go all in. Experiences like these show that talent is not just about individual abilities, but also about cooperation, responsibility, and the courage to create real results.
